| My FAVOURITE place in the world - Porthcothan beach. |
So I've learnt a lot of lessons in the past few months. Life is hard, but God is bigger than any problem I have. In the words of a song: 'all that's in my head is in your hands.' (Switchfoot - Home). I want to outline a few of the quotes that have spoken to me:
1. 'But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show us that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.' 2 Corinthians 4:7-12
This verse was really inspiring. It was humbling and it made so much sense to find out that I am a jar of clay. And the treasure inside of me is the Holy Spirit.
God loves to use our weaknesses. Have you noticed? He uses us when we're uncomfortable, vulnerable and out of our comfort zone because that is when we rely on Him most and when He is most glorified. Because when we're scared but we make the effort to do something anyway, God loves it. When we use His power to serve Him He gets the most glory!
I read the most awesome thing yesterday by C.S Lewis. It's from a book called 'Screwtape Letters' and basically it's from the devil's perspective:
2. 'Our cause (the devils cause) is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do Gods will looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys.'
It's basically talking about those tough times when we can't 'feel' God or we feel abandoned by him. And how if we make the choice to obey God anyway the devil is squashed, and we grow in our faith. God uses the tough times almost more than the peak times to help us grow.
This is summed up in another one of his quotes: (This guy is becoming more and more of a hero of mine)
3. 'He (God) wants them (us) to learn to walk and must therefore take away His hand; and if the will to walk is really there He is pleased even with their stumbles.' - Screwtape Letters
How awesome is that?! To grow in a relationship with God we have to endure tough times, the times when we feel 'spiritually dry'. And when we endure them God is pleased with any attempt at obedience we make.
Oh and I blogged over at this lovely place. So check it out to see a more creative endeavour of mine!
Wonderfully thought convicting, Gina.
